Dr. David Goldblatt

Dr. David Goldblatt is a sociologist, sports writer, broadcaster, and journalist. He is the author of The Ball is Round: A Global History of Football.  He has also written The World Football Yearbook.  As a journalist, he has written for theGuardian, the Observer, the Financial Times, The Independent on Sunday, theNew Statesman, the New Left Review and is currently the sports’ columnist forProspect magazine.  He received the 2009 Foreign Press Association Sports Story of the Year Award.  As a freelance reporter he has worked for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service. He has also taught the sociology of sport at the University of Bristol.  As a visiting professor at Pitzer College in 2012, he taught classes on the Olympics, Football, and Urban Studies.  He is currently writing a new book.
